This proposed friendly 40B neighborhood while dense by definition is designed with the intent of being conscientious and sensitive to the surrounding residential context. The site is planned to provide residents with clear private and public areas with the former aimed at enabling a sense of “ownership” of outdoor space by rental tenants and the later intended to foster participation of the individuals in the larger community.
Considering the site is currently undeveloped, the landscape is designed to mitigate water runoff from the new hardscapes. Rain gardens with bio-remediative plants run the perimeter of all proposed buildings, cleaning and controlling the amount of runoff that goes back into the ground.
